Laurie Jeanne Gibbs   1954 - 2022

Laurie J. Gibbs (67) passed away peacefully after a long battle with COPD and Cancer surrounded by her family on June, 28 2022 in Hilton Head, South Carolina. She was born to Elizabeth and Robert Gowen on August 23, 1954. She grew up in Cedarville, MA and eventually settled in Sandwich, MA. where she raised her family. She worked for many years at John's Capeside Diner where she served all her family and friends. In 1996 she moved to Antigua for a few years before eventually settling in Hilton Head, South Carolina with her daughter, Leah.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Robert and Steven Gowen.

Laurie leaves her children James Gibbs Jr., Jennifer Little, Leah (Mutt Mutt) Gibbs, Jana (Jeremy) Mendes, Jason (Samantha) Gibbs along with 15 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Caryn Marchi, brother Jefferey Gowen and their families.

Per her request, Laurie was cremated and private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to American Lung Association or American Cancer Society.
