Richard A. Beaulieu, age 82, passed away at the Augusta Health Care Center following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was predeceased by his parents Leo & Jeanette (Crepeau) Beaulieu, his loving wife Joyce M. Rowland, and his sister Joyce (Beaulieu) Dikeman. His education began in the Biddeford grade schools, but he graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Virginia Tech's Cadet Program. Known for his jest for life and his vigorous love for learning, Richard experienced living in France for several
years before settling in Saco where he volunteered at the Saco Museum, the American Red Cross Crisis Team, and cross guard while working per diem as a substitute teacher. During this time, he belonged to the Astronomical Society of Northern New England, was an active member of the
Universal Unitarian Church and enjoyed photography and swimming. As a lifelong swimmers, Joyce and Richard spent much of their summer at Rotary Park and the ocean. Richard's gentle and kind manner led to many close friendships and loving family ties. He will be missed.
