It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tina Farrell who left this world peacefully, with her beloved family by her side, following a long battle with cancer. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Tina was born to loving parents Hyman and Beatrice in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from high school, Tina worked for many years as a legal secretary, most recently for Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, until her retirement.
Although she spent her final years residing in South Carolina, Tina always remained a native New Yorker at heart. She enjoyed a good slice of NY pizza and never missed a Yankees game. Tina could rattle off the statistics of every NY Yankee that ever wore the uniform. She found great joy in her fantasy baseball league, and proudly served as league commissioner. In her retirement, Tina also cultivated her interests in bocce ball, mah-jongg and bridge. Before her health declined, she was a regular player at her local Monday mah-jongg club, where she enjoyed the company and laughter of many wonderful friends. She was an avid traveler and particularly loved cruising with her sisters. Tina will always be remembered for her caring heart, infectious smile and laughter.
She is survived by her sons Peter (Stephanie) and Patrick (Shannon), her dearly beloved grandchildren Nathan and Bryn, cherished siblings Sidney (Shelly), Barbara, Sondra, Paul (Peggie), Richard (Debra), Hope, Sherry (Richard), as well as many treasured nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the outstanding staff at Broad Creek Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facility for their excellent care of Tina in her final days.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Tina’s honor to the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
